Kenya is a destination that is unique for different experiences throughout the year; however, when one visits Kenya can make a huge difference in the experience. The dry season, from June to October, is considered the best time for a wildlife safari, when animals gather around waterholes and are therefore easier to see. This is the time of the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara, which is considered by many to be one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on earth.
For travellers who want less crowds and greener landscapes, the time between January and March is better. During these months the climate is warm and mild accompanied by brief rainfall that adds to the beauty of savannah, lakes, and forests. Whether one is watching wildlife, exploring Nairobi or appreciating the scenic Great Rift Valley, Kenya offers something of a reward in every season.
The journey begins at Nairobi, the biggest aviation center in the country. Our friendly representatives will greet you at the arrival point and transfer you to your transport. After the tour, you will be driven to your pre-arranged accommodation at the Tamarind Tree Hotel. After registering, relax and explore the area before retiring for the night.
Take your breakfast in the morning before you go out to carry out your next activities and then you check out of the hotel. At 8 in the morning we shall go to Masai Mara National Reserve with a photo stop at the Great Rift Valley Observation Point. From this perspective one is able to have a very good look at the massive Great Rift Valley. On our descent of the escarpment, we will drive to the Maasai Mara arriving at Ashnil Mara Camp in time for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon organise for a game drive to have a view of the big five commonly known as lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinoceros. Return to the camp where you will have dinner prepared in advance and you will spend the night.
Take an early morning game drive at 0630AM to see those animals that are active at night before they go to sleep. After a good sunrise, it is recommended to have buffet breakfast and then head back to the camp. Sleep in or take a nap, go shopping, or do anything you want to do before you eat lunch. In the afternoon take another game drive in order to view the different animals of the Masai Mara. Return to the camp for meal and overnight at the camp.
A third early morning game drive is useful to see the night animals again and also to watch the rising of the sun. The remainder of the morning after breakfast which will be prepared for you at the camp is going to be yours to do with as you wish. After the lunch expect to go for a game drive in the afternoon to explore other attractions within the park.
The next day after breakfast we shall be heading back to Nairobi and for lunch we shall be using the Tamambo Restaurant. If you have free time before the flight, I will take you for a short city tour and shop for souvenirs if time will allow. Last, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your flight back home.
