CAIRO: THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM: THE PYRAMIDS OF GIZA: KHAN EL KHALILI
Start your day with breakfast at your hotel, then begin your tour by passing through El Tharir Square, known for hosting numerous major protests and demonstrations in recent years. Visit the Egyptian Museum, which holds the world’s largest collection of Egyptian antiquities, including artifacts from the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman periods, as well as the celebrated mummies of ancient kings and Tutankhamun’s treasures. Continue your journey to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. End your day with shopping at Khan El Khalili, a popular attraction for both tourists and locals in Cairo.
Wadi El Natroun Monasteries – Cairo – Alexandria
After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our journey from Cairo to Alexandria, taking an alternative route that avoids the main desert road. We will have a drive-by at Wadi El Natroun, one of the three early Christian Monastic centers located in the desert of North Western Nile Delta There we will visit the Monastery of Saint Pishoy which was established by Saint Pishoy in the fourth century. The monastery has five churches; the main one of SAINT Pishoy, Virgin Mary, Saint Iskhiron, Saint Georges, and Archangel Michael, 500 meters Northwest of the Monastery Visit Saint Pishoy’s Syrian Monastery, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was built in the Sixth century AD. They include five churches of which two are those of Virgin Mary. Then we will continue our road to Alexandria Transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.
Alexandria: Pompey’s Pillar: Catacombs of Kom El Shokaafa: Qaitbay Citadel
After having breakfast at the hotel, your tour will officially begin with a visit to Pompey’s Pillar, which was actually built in honor of Emperor Diocletian, as indicated by the ancient Greek inscription on the west side of the pillar’s base. Just a few kilometers from here, you will visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa — a vast, three-level Roman funerary complex, and the largest of its kind in Egypt.
On the way to the Qaitbay Citadel, you will also pass by the Abu El Abbas Mosque, which was built over the tomb of a 13th-century saint and later reconstructed in the 18th century. The citadel itself stands on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria. The Qaitbay Citadel is considered one of the most important defensive fortresses in Egypt and along the Mediterranean Sea coast.
ALEXANDRIA: MONASTERY OF MARIMINA: CAIRO
After your breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken back to Cairo. On our way we will visit one of the most important monasteries in Egypt, the Monastery of Saint Mina. The remains of the Saint Mina together with other relics of Pope Cyril the Sixth of Alexandria are found in the monastery. Return to Cairo where you will be spending the night in your hotel.
CAIRO – FINAL DEPARTURE
After having breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport to catch a flight while saying goodbye to a wonderful tour.
