To apply for a Japan tourist visa from Muscat, applicants must submit the following:

• Valid Passport: Must have at least 6 months’ validity and a minimum of two blank pages.
• Visa Application Form: A completed and signed copy of the official Japan Visa Application Form.
• Recent Photograph:
  One recent color photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) with a white background, printed on glossy paper.
  The head must occupy approximately 70–80% of the frame.
  (Note: Nationals of Russia, CIS countries, and Georgia must submit two photographs.)
• Schedule of Stay (Mandatory):
  A properly completed official “Schedule of Stay” form using the approved Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Japan template. A simple written itinerary is not accepted.
• Proof of Accommodation:
  Confirmed hotel reservations or an invitation letter from a host in Japan.
• Financial Documents:
  Original, stamped bank statements for the last 6 months (as preferred by the Japanese Embassy in Muscat).
• Employment Documents:
  Original salary certificate / NOC letter on company letterhead, signed and stamped, clearly stating position, monthly salary, and date of joining.
• Flight Bookings:
  Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary.
• Oman Residency (For Expat Applicants):
  Copy of Oman Resident Card (both sides).
  If the card is expiring before or during travel, proof of renewal must be provided.

Japan eVisa Option 

As of 2026, many GCC residents—including certain expatriates residing in Oman—may be eligible to apply online through the Japan eVisa system.

• Omani citizens: Eligible for Japan eVisa (short-term single-entry tourism).
• Some expat residents in Oman: May also qualify depending on nationality.
• Important: The eVisa is for single-entry tourism only. Applicants seeking a multiple-entry visa must apply in person at the Japanese Embassy in Muscat (Shati Al-Qurum).
